* ServerMojo Instant Messages
We run our own instant message server to provide you with the most reliable and fastest free alerts system. In order to use it you need an IM client that supports the jabber protocol which most of the multi-protocol IM clients such as Miranda, Trillian, Gaim/Pidgin etc. already have. You can also get one from here: http://www.jabber.org/software/clients.shtml.
Twitter Alerts
If you have a twitter account you can choose to get alerts sent there and so get alerts via email, IM or SMS all via Twitter. Make sure to configure your twitter account to enable direct messages and add servermojo to your friends list!
Jabber Alerts
If you have a jabber based IM account elsewhere, for example GTalk (GMail), you can choose to get alerts sent there also.
Monitor Types Explained
http/web basic - this monitor just checks that your webserver is up and responding to requests. It does not guarantee your site is working properly though, for example if you have a database driven site and your db is down then the only thing that your web server will display is an error message! If your site is static html or something like that then this monitor is what you need.
http with keyword - this monitor goes further than the one above in that it checks for some specific text on the page. For example if your site has the word "hosting" on the page then this monitor will search for that word and report an error if it's not found. This is ideal if your site is dynamic or database driven.
dns - this monitor checks that your nameservers are online and responding to requests.
mysql - this checks that your mysql database is online. It does not require a mysql login, just that it is able to reach it (ie. not blocked by firewall).
ping - this checks that your server itself is online and responding to pings.
We advise your to verify that a monitor is working for your server before relying on it - some types of monitors may be blocked by your firewall for example or spam filters may block our email alerts.
