Now available on all accounts is additional info about why a monitor shows downtime – for example was it a timeout, a 404 or 500 error etc. This info is collected when we scan your server and then included in alerts we send you but now is also available on the site – on monitor view pages and on the overview page you will see a little info icon next to any downtimes listed there. You can mouseover this icon to see the error message and click it to see further info if available. Also on the monitor list page any time a monitor is down and shows the red error icon you can also mouseover and click that icon for the error details.

Also now available for “big biz” type accounts are traceroutes which can be performed any time a server is found to be down – to enable this feature just check the “TraceRoute Snapshot?” box on the monitor create or edit form (only available on certain types of monitors such as ping). Traceroutes can then be viewed, as the following image shows, by clicking on the info icons as described above.

We hope all this additional monitoring data will help you diagnose server or network problems and ultimately enable you provide a more reliable service to your own users.

If you have any questions or suggestions – please let us know!
